It was recently discovered that both Windows Vista (32 Bit only) and Windows 7 contain what is usually referred to as a virtual Easter egg in the form of a GodMode, which is a collection of all tools found in Windows from one location. You can think of it as one of those tweaking software which normally one would pay to use!

To access this feature one needs to create a new folder called:

GodMode.{ED7BA470-8E54-465E-825C-99712043E01C}

and once that is done all that needs to do be done done is to click on it.

Note: DO NOT try this on Vista 64 Bit! It has been reported that GodMode screws up 64 Bit Vista!

Many Vista users all over the net are asking whether a direct upgrade from Windows Vista to Windows is possible. The answer is that this direct upgrade is indeed possible but not for Vista users who will buy any version of Windows 7 in a European Union country. As a matter of fact, in the EU, Microsoft will only sell versions of Windows 7 that require a fresh installation. This means that when the fresh install path is taken, users will first have to backup all data and afterwards they will also need to install all software once again. On the other hand users who will choose the upgrade path will not need to go through all that hassle but they will also face the risk of ending up with an o/s which performs slower than what could have been achieved via a fresh install.

If you are a Vista user and planning to take the upgrade path, you should also consider downloading the Windows 7 Upgrade Advisor tool from:
http://www.microsoft.com/windows/windows-7/get/upgrade-advisor.aspx

After installing this tool you will get a report telling you if your computer can run Windows 7 and will also tell you if there are any known compatibility issues.

This tip is for those who had installed SP 1 but have not yet installed SP 2. After installing SP 1 on Windows Vista, one will be able to uninstall it at a later stage. However, for this to be the case, Windows will create a backup which eats up considerable disk space. If one is sure that an uninstall of SP 1 will never be needed, a command prompt can be opened and the following command typed: vsp1cln.exe . Following that it is just a matter of waiting until the backup is deleted. It has to be noted that upon completion one will not be able to remove SP 1 from the system.
